With financial support from Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), the Province of Nova Scotia and four regional development authorities, Colchester Regional Development Agency engaged us to develop a strategy to retain and grow Foreign Direct Investments in Nova Scotia. We:
- identified key FDIs in the province by their size, country of origin, and the Regional Development Authority (RDA) jurisdiction in which they are located;
- presented market research findings on eighteen Nova Scotia-based FDIs, and recommended how each one can be targeted for retention and expansion;
- proposed a new framework by which provincial stakeholders can work together to engage FDIs, either locally or out-of-province; and,
- provided additional recommendations to help ensure the Program’s continued development.
