We developed a business case for the retention and expansion of the Department of National Defence in Halifax and Greenwood, Nova Scotia. Through secondary research and one-on-one interviews, we outlined DND’s impacts in these host communities, mapped Nova Scotia’s DND and commercial aerospace and defence assets, reviewed the federal government’s defence procurement strategy, and identified key areas in which these communities had a strong business case for future DND investment. A framework for stakeholders to communicate the value proposition to target audiences was also developed.
